Yang, a thorough breed Singaporean was born in the 70s. In her childhood years, Yang has already shown great interest and desires in designing, she often toy with different fabric and materials to create things. She would use her mom’s sewing machine to make her own bags at the age of 9. Her very first maiden work was a piece of wedding gown when she was 18. Now, a giftware designer, runs GaGatree as its Chief Designer.
Yang is trained in fashion design, however for the most part of her career, she worked as a graphic designer. She co-founded a design house when she was in her mid 20s. Yang likes beautiful things, especially retro prints and illustrations from her good old childhood days. She is particularly strong in visualizing three dimensional structure and has won many international advertising material design awards.
Yang is a very enterprising person, in her earlier careers, she has ventured into designing wedding gowns and cards, operating mainly from a home base studio. At one period of time, Yang quitted her day job and went into designing Pin-bears, This was the Neo-print years where many youngster likes to take self portraits in Neo-print vending machines. Her Pin-bears allow the collectors to paste their neo-prints on the bear belly. She would bring her Pin-bears to local flea markets during weekends to sell. In that brief period, she sold 300 over Pin bears and has a total of 8 designs.
Two years ago, Yang envisioned the need to transform and divert her business. On another occasion, a friend who owns a designer lifestyle shop invited her to create some designer products to be retail at his shop. Since her love and passion is in designing and she loves visual merchandising. Thus, came the decision to start GaGatree.
In her leisurely time, she likes reading magazines especially fashion, designs, and architecture materials. She is also a vivid toy collector. Yang described herself as a workaholic . And she is really happy to take on this new challenge for GaGatree.
